Trending on Twitter: WithoutMyBlackNerdiness

Black Nerds Unite!

Last night I witnessed a wonderful conversation on Twitter engendered by the hashtag #withoutmyblacknerdiness.  I curated some of the best tweets and made a storify.

I am kinda nerdy. I rarely go full nerd. I started as a chemical engineering, but I flunked out. I got a bachelor’s degree in accounting, but I am not a CPA. I have been blogging for ten years, but I only know a little bit of HTML coding.

A few years ago, I was asked to be a part of this local NBC Black History month series. I was interviewed about my blogging, my work in tech and my Blackness.  The one thing I wanted to make sure was said is that black people are not a monolith. Unfortunately,  the segment never aired.  My goal of this blog is to shine a light of how black people do things outside the prescribed stereotypes. There are more than thirteen ways of looking at a black person.
