Comedian and writer Jacquetta Szathmari has a new one woman show called That Old Black Magic. Last year, I saw her first one woman show, “Funny, You Don’t Sound Black Over The Phone” and it was funny, irreverent and thought provoking.
Her new show will premier this year at the Hollywood Fringe Festival in June but lucky for New Yorkers she’s doing two preview shows next week at the Producer’s Club.
About The Show: The Amazing Daisy (an illusionist whose act is less than magical) and Sweet Bojanski Brown (a burlesquer with more dreams than talent) form an unlikely friendship in their hilarious struggle to get booked at the Moulin Rouge, Las Vegas’ first integrated casino. Treat yourself to an hour or so of dodgy illusions and historically accurate but politically insensitive burlesque and learn a thing or two about Black magic while you’re at. Set in 1955.
DATES: Friday May 18th & Saturday May 19th
TIME: 10PM (1 hour show, so don’t come late)
COST: $10 at the door.
LOCATION: THE PRODUCERS CLUB
358 West 44th Street (closer to 9th Ave.)
It’s a one woman show. Directed by Leslie Collins with Choreography by Akynos Shekera
