The US moviegoer is just as diverse as the US population. The evidence is in Halle Berry’s indie movie, “The Call” opened at number two over the comedy with Steve Carrell/Steve Buscemi flick, “The Incredible Burt Wonderstone”. The movie brought in $17.1M. The budget for “The Call” was low but the marketing effort was focused on women and African Americans. Former child star Abigail Breslin, was her co-star so the movie brought in young women as well. I wonder how well when “Temptation” the new flick by Tyler Perry opens on March 29th. I predict an over $20M weekend which is also Easter weekend.
