The Sky’s The Limit: Inspiration For CoolBlkPpl

The sun.

It’s February and it is Black History Month. What inspires you? I think of Black literary pioneers like Nella Larsen, Alice Dunbar, and Zora Neale Hurston.  Playwright Lorraine Hansberry has always been an inspiration to me. In any creative field there are so many Black people who made strides, but many have yet to get their due. Paul Robeson was a renaissance man. He was an actor, activist, athlete and much more.

Anyway here’s are some great reads I found on the web this week.

Great jazz film featuring jazz greats.

Every Prince hairstyle from 1978 until 2013 (via Kottke)

Dee Dee Bridgewater talks about her illegal abortion.

Brooklyn restaurant Brucie designed a Beyonce-themed Valentine’s Day Dinner.

Childish Gambino does an amazing cover of PM Dawn’s “I’d Die Without You”
