I have not always liked everything Cord Jefferson has written, but I often take the time to read his work. I remember when he was writing for Stereohyped way before Gawker. This piece below resonates with so many Black writers/content makers. When I started CoolBlkPpl, I had a clear vision to highlight black diversity, black coolness and black excellence. There have been times in the past two years that I want to rant or vent about racist micro-aggressions or how the institutional racism is making things worse for everyone, but I have resisted. If I start writing about race in that context, then I could be pigeonholed. Instead, I try to share links on Twitter and let people know what’s going on. Knowledge is power. Anyway, I truly appreciate what Cord Jefferson wrote for Medium. Stay steady.
